Weeknotes #42

This week we enter the final month of Universal Analytics before the big switch off! ā°šŸ‘€ I attended a Ticketsolve GA4 webinar, spoke to more wonderful organisations across the country, and had a mini Lowry reunion.

Ticketsolve Google Analytics 4 integration

One Further have built an integration for the Ticketsolve platform and GA4 šŸ™Œ.

I attended the webinar and Chris outlined the steps to set things up, explained the new data from the integration and went though the documentation and support available.

As far as Iā€™m aware, this is the only ticketing integration to pass data throughout the checkout process (not just on the confirmation page) - product views, add and remove to basket, view basket, adding payment and shipping information, and logging in. These additional checkout events give a greater depth of information for online sales - Which events are people viewing but not buying? Where are people dropping out of the checkout funnel? Which events are converting well?

One Further have also built a GA4 reporting kit to guide you through the setup of common and useful reports in the interface. The kit is available through their training platform Coach, and free for Ticketsolve users.

Conversations this week

On Tuesday I spoke to Dina Dakik (Marketing Communications Manager) at Shubbak Festival. Dina wanted to set up conversion events in GA4 to track ticket bookings and newsletter sign ups. Individual events go to a variety of different booking systems and links so we set up a book_now event to track outbound links for book buttons in Google Tag Manager. These new events have been marked as a Conversion in GA4 and can now be used in Google Ads for targeting lookalike audiences.

In the afternoon I met with Vanessa Giorgo (Digital Communications Lead ) at Design and Artist's Copyright Society (DACS) and we talked through the different metrics currently in tracked and how to structure and categorise reporting.

Wednesday I spoke to Mark Treadwell (Marketing Officer) British Motor Museum. On a previous call we had set up ecommerce tracking with the Vennersys Venpos ticketing system so we looked through the new data and configured additional GA4 Events to track different objectives.

In the afternoon I met Jazlyn Pinckney (Head of Workforce Development) at One Dance UK. Jazlyn worked on the award winning Balance and Belonging project at Watershed and bringing the same to One Dance UK. We talked about our brand new Evaluation Tech Champions (more news soon!) and how they can help with projects such as these.

Later in the afternoon I spoke to Georgia Quinn (Marketing Manager) at Suffolk Libraries. Georgie wanted to set up GA4 for the organisation so we set things up in advance of getting access to the Tag Manager account from the agency they use.

Finally I had a mini Lowry reunion (we all worked there 10 years ago!) with Megan Tripp (Service & Community Manager) and Zoe Papiernik-Bloor (Director of Client Services) at The Audience Agency. We talked about the new Audience Answers platform and how we can collaborate across the Digital Culture Network.

On Friday I met with Sophie Hiscock (Director of Communications and Impact) at The Story Museum. We went through the set up of Google Tag Manager and where to find data in GA4 reports and Looker Studio.

In the afternoon I helped Reba Martin (Communications Manager) at Berwick Film & Media Arts Festival set up and install GA4 for the festival website.
